At this time, we are able to offer a program for gifted students at the middle school, grades 6, 7, and 8. With the support of a gifted intervention specialist, this program prepares students for continued rigorous coursework at the high school. As you may know, the district offers students entering the high school the opportunity to enroll in honors and Advanced Placement courses provided they have demonstrated both the ability and work ethic to succeed in challenging academics while at the middle school. These courses contain the level of rigor that best prepares students for college. The mission of the Garfield Heights City School District is to educate, guide, and ensure all students graduate prepared to meet high expectations and serve as responsible citizens in a global society. The district is committed to providing appropriate, comprehensive curriculum for all students at all levels.
