Welcome to the Garfield Heights City Schools Preschool & Head Start Programs

The Garfield Heights City Schools is pleased to offer two preschool programs for residents of Garfield Heights:

The Garfield Heights Preschool 1/2 Day Program serves typically developing children who live in the Garfield Heights City School District.

The Head Start Full Day Program serves children ages 4-5 (as long as they are not 5 years old before September 30th of the current school year).

AGES:
Children must be 4 years old by September 30th of the current school year. Enrollment for both programs is based on income. Please see the income guidelines for the Garfield Heights Preschool 1/2 Day Program or the Head Start Full Day Program. *You will not be accepted into these programs if your income exceeds the guildelines.

TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation to both programs is the parent's responsibility.

ENROLLMENT:
Those children not accepted at this time will be placed on a waiting list and notified in the event of a vacancy in the program of interest. Vacancies are filled throughout the year as they may occur and will be filled with the following considerations in mind: age, income level, residence, placement on the waitling list and other relevant factors. Parents will receive notification when an opening becomes available for their child. Our preschool programs are designed to give students a head start into kindergarten. Therefore, children will be expected to attend on a regular basis. Students who are absent for 10 consecutive unexcused days or 20 unexcused days within a quarter, will be removed from the program. Special needs preschoolers will have to enroll for preschool through our Special Education Pupils Services office. They can be contacted at 216-475-8100.
