This year’s theme for National School Bus Safety Week is “At My Stop, You Stop.”
School buses carry our most precious cargo, our kids! The yellow school bus is the safest mode of transportation to and from school. Our theme this year is regarding a very dangerous situation that is becoming an issue nationwide. Every day, tens of thousands of motorists illegally pass a stopped school bus that is loading or unloading students. Some of this is due to impatience, others due to misinformation on the laws. Regardless, passing a school bus that is loading or unloading students is not only illegal, but it creates an extremely dangerous situation for our students. The following links will provide you with information on why it takes a bus so long to load/unload students, basic school bus safety laws as well as what Ohio law states for stopping for a stopped school bus.
