December's Student Spotlight honor goes to Megan Howard, an 8th grader at Garfield Heights Middle School. Megan was nominated by Ms. Carey, Middle School music teacher and choir director. Megan has been a 3 year member of Garfield Heights Middle School choir, where she has served as section leader. She is also a member of "Center Stage", the Middle School show choir. Megan sang a solo in last year's spring choral concert. Megan is also an honor roll student, earning a 4.0 grade point average for the first quarter of 2014-2015.
Ms. Howard's singing talents led her to audition in August, 2014 for the Singing Angels, an auditioned group of students from all over Northeast Ohio. The Singing Angels, which was founded in 1964, is dedicated to youth development through the highest level of artistic achievement in the performing arts. The group has traveled to over 34 countries, accompanied symphonies, entertained dignitaries, Presidents and Popes. Megan rehearses with the Singing Angels every Tuesday and Thursday evening, as well as every Saturday and Sunday.
Ms. Carey said of Megan, "At the rate this young lady is going, we are sure to see her name in lights some day!" Congratulations, Megan! Keep up the great work!
