Alumni Update: Alyssa Granito, Class of 2016

During our Winter break, Alyssa will be traveling with the Purdue All American Marching Band (AAMB) to perform at the Foster Farm Bowl Game at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. The group will leave for San Francisco on 12/25 and perform at a Pep Rally at the Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco on 12/26. The Bowl game is on 12/27/17 where they will be doing a pre-game show and half time show. This game will air on television! Alyssa carries the Big Ten Flag for Rutgers (all red flag). The group will fly back to Purdue right after the game. She will then be back in Garfield Heights on 12/29 or 12/30 to finish out winter break with family and friends.

For Spring Break (3/11-3/18) the AAMB will travel to Ireland to perform in Dublin for their St. Patrick's Day Parade. The band coordinators have scheduled some great sightseeing adventures, starting with their arrival to Shannon, Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher, Galway City Tour (with a possible performance there), Medieval Banquet, Clare Limerick area, Blarney Castle and Woolen Mills, Kilkenny and Kilkenny Castle, then to Dublin where they will visit Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough (Christian Monastic site) and Taylor Three Rock and finally the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

In May, Alyssa will be participating in a study abroad course. This is a three week course for credit in the Ukraine to study the effects of the Chernobyl accident.

Finally in June, Alyssa will be participating an internship for Exelon in their Nuclear Fuels Department in Kennett Square, PA. This will be a 10 week internship from June 5 to August 10, 2018. At the end of the internship, Alyssa will go straight back to Purdue for Band Camp and to start her Junior year at Purdue.

We are incredibly excited about all that Alyssa is getting to experience as a result of her participation in the marching band at Purdue as well as her major course of study in Nuclear Engineering!
