Highlighting Our Top 10: Jemima Ukwela (#6 - 4.090 GPA)

Sixth in a class of 327 students is Jemima Ukwela, with a 4.090 GPA. Jemima participated in our PSEO Program at Tri-C, was a member of the Glass Ceiling Roundtable for two years, and was also on the Academic Challenge Team for three years. Inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore, she was the NHS Secretary this year. Jemima has played clarinet in the band for all four years of high school, receiving a “1” in the OMEA Ensemble Competition, not only once, but 3 times. For those of you that aren’t “music people,” a “1” is the highest level you can achieve. Jemima doesn’t stop with school activities. She was selected to participate as an intern in the Cleveland Clinic Young Business Leaders’ Program and Center for International Medical Education.

As you can tell by Jemima’s out of school activities, she has an interest in the medical field and plans to major in biology. She has been offered a $1,400 grant and $12,000 scholarship at Taylor University, $16,000 from Ohio Northern University and $6,500 from the University of Toledo. She will accept a $5,000 scholarship from Cleveland State University.

Jemima’s Roses for Teachers plaque will be going to Mrs. Michelle Knapp.
