Michelangelo changed the art world when he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. High school students at the Learning Center are also making their mark in the art room. For the last few weeks, they have been working in groups to replicate famous works of art onto ceiling tiles, where the masterpieces will be displayed for years to come. Each group was carefully matched to an artist that complimented the artistic styles they demonstrated throughout the school year. The students researched their artists and presented their biographies, influences, and art-making styles to their classes before choosing a famous work to paint.
To see the finished tiles in full effect, please come to the Learning Center's End-of-the-Year Art Show on Thursday, May 28th, where they will be displayed at an open house from 4 - 6 pm.
Along with the tiles, many other pieces will be featured from both the 8th grade academy and the high school, and refreshments will be provided. This is an event not to be missed!
