Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Monday as the Garfield Heights Bulldogs Varsity outscored Brush 11-8 in seven innings.
Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 22 hits, including five extra base hits.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
The Garfield Heights Bulldogs Varsity finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. The Garfield Heights Bulldogs Varsity scored on a two-run single by Grayson Novak off Arth, bringing home Isaiah Thompson and Nathan Louis. The bottom of the first saw Brush take an early lead, 3-0. Brush's rally started when Bando singled. A stolen base then moved Bando from first to second. Smith doubled, scoring Bando. Brush added more runs when Domico scored on a fielder's choice and Smith scored on an RBI single by Shapiro.
The Garfield Heights Bulldogs Varsity brought home two runs in the second inning, and matched that run total in the fifth. In the second, the Garfield Heights Bulldogs Varsity scored on a steal of home, bringing home Novak.
After a quick strike from the Garfield Heights Bulldogs Varsity, Brush responded with five runs in the fourth. Brush scored on an RBI single by Bando, a two-run double by Domico, an RBI single by Smith, and a steal of home by Domico.
