The Garfield Heights Softball team beat Valley Forge 11-4 in seven innings on Tuesday after a six-run explosion in the third inning.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game. The Lady Dawgs scored in the third on a passed ball, RBI single by Alyssa Lubrano, an error, an RBI single by Rachel Malone, and a two-run double by Rachel Gardner.
Brittany Emch got the win for the Bulldogs. She allowed four runs over seven innings. Emch struck out eight, walked three and gave up eight hits.
The top of the first saw the Lady Dawgs take an early lead, 1-0. The attack began with a single by Rachel Gardner who would later score on a Brittany Emch single. After posting one run in the second, GHHS again scored in the sixth. In the second, the Bulldogs got a big pick-me-up from a Rachel Malone home run.
The Bulldogs are back in action TODAY at home vs Normandy High School at 4:30pm.
