GHCS Teacher To Be Honored by University of Akron

2010 Alumni Lauren Kukwa, continued her education in the Honors College at the University of Akron and will be graduating May 9th Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, a Chemistry minor and a Polymer Specialization.

As part of the Honors College Convocation, which precedes commencement, on May 8th, Lauren will receive her honors medal. Part of that ceremony includes the students of the honors college being able to nominate a teacher who has been influential to them. They submit a paper stating why this person should be honored with this award. Lauren had Helen Lindsay 7 years ago as a high school junior and credits her more than words can say. Helen Lindsay was chosen as the winner of the Most Influential High School Teacher Award based on Lauren’s letter. She will be presented with this award at the Honors Convocation Ceremony on May 8, 2015. She will hear Lauren’s letter read aloud and will be able to speak to the guests after receiving her award.

Great teachers do leave footprints on their students as this award for her shows.
