Seniors Awarded Scholarships Totalling $4.3Million

The Garfield Heights High School graduating class of 2015 was honored Thursday evening, May 21st, at their Senior Recognition Night. Parents, family, staff and honored guests applauded the efforts and accomplishments of these outstanding young adults.

The Valedictorian Award was earned by Nathan Boufford. This year’s senior class earned college scholarships totalling over $4.3 million.

The local organizations in Garfield Heights once again showed their support of our hometown youth by sponsoring scholarships totalling $22,000. Students and their awards are attached.

Achieving a 4.0 GPA is a tremendous accomplishment. The class of 2015 had 8 students meet this challenge. The following students received our “Four Star Student” award: Paige Ross – 4.000, Floyde Samidan – 4.043, Jemima Ukwela – 4.090, Benjamin Gutzky – 4.216, Michael Vekas – 4.228, Rachel Novak – 4.245, Emily Gallaugher – 4.330 and Nathan Boufford – 4.340.

Garfield Heights High School was proud to have 38 students qualify for the Presidential Achievement Award. These students maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA and received high achievement in both reading and math in State or nationally normed tests. They also participated in extra-curricular activities and demonstrated outstanding citizenship and character. They are: Nathan Boufford, Emily Gallaugher, Michael Vekas, Rachel Novak, Benjamin Gutzky, Jemima Ukwela, Paige Ross, Floyde Samidan, Alyssa Lubrano, Alycia Bardwell, Rachel Kachinko, Tabitha Lukco-Trowbridge, Jeanette Jakupca, Victoria Voeung, Christopher Spurlock, Keely Sajovie, Vanidi Kinney, Alexander Fertig, Jordan Ellis, Joslyn Karson, Jessica Kimbrough, Karriann Gerchak, Isaiah Thompson, Andrew Sobel, Nikodem Adamski, Chelsea Eder, Courtney Craig, Sara Nash, Nathan Louis, Brittany Emch, Allison Mitts, Taylor Portzer, Alexus Hughley, Michaela Broadnax, Malik Hudson, Hailey Kost, Conner Richey and Autumn Hanks.

Once again, our Senior Recognition Night was a great success. It gave us the opportunity to recognize the tremendous accomplishments and talents of our graduating Seniors. We wish these and all of our graduating Seniors well. We hope the experience, education, training and preparation they received as students of Garfield Heights High School will allow them continued success with their post-graduation plans. Cherish your memories, and CONGRATULATIONS SENIORS!!
