Garfield Heights Third Grade Students Receive Gift from the Cleveland Museum of Art

As one of the final celebrations of its centennial, the Cleveland Museum of Art announced it will give all Garfield Heights City School third graders “Create It Kits.”

In partnership with Cuyahoga County, the Garfield Heights City School District, and United Way of Greater Cleveland, the “Create It Kits” will be distributed to all third grade classrooms. Click here for some pictures of students receiving their art kits.

Research shows art has the ability to teach children problem solving, creative thinking and literacy skills. Designed to inspire students to discover their “inner artist” and connect with the museum’s world-renowned collection, each kit contains:
  • A free children’s “Art Explorer” membership to the museum
  • Art supplies
  • Get Creative, a custom-made sketchbook with art-making prompts
  • Five Collection Cards designed to engage students with objects in the museum’s collection
  • DIY green glasses inspired by the museum’s beloved “Portrait of Nathaniel Olds” by Jeptha Homer Wade

Garfield Heights City Schools is proud to partner with these community organizations to bring additional educational opportunities to our students and their families.
