Key Club In Need of Pop Can Tabs

Key Club’s Students of Service are asking you to contribute to a major effort by doing a simple thing: Pull off a pop tab!

GHHS has collected pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House for more than a decade, but you may not realize why. When a relatively large quantity has been amassed, they are taken to the Ronald McDonald House on Cleveland Clinic’s main campus. According to their website, Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, Inc., a nonprofit organization, supports families whose children receive treatment at area medical centers by providing a home-like environment and essential resources and services. We serve more than 100,000 individuals through our 55-room House, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at four area medical centers, and online resource for Ohio families, RedTreehouse.org.” The pop tabs are submitted for money, and that money is kept as a slush fund, to be used for the needs of the residents. For example, several years ago a family from Central America was staying at Ronald McDonald House while their child underwent medical treatment during the winter. However, coming from a warm climate, the family was unprepared for a northeast Ohio winter, so the money from pop tabs bought warm outer garments for the family during their stay.

Please note that other tabs – for example, the ones on aluminum cans (soup, fruit, etc.) – are also acceptable.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in this effort. Key Club thanks you, and Ronald McDonald House is always very appreciative.

Let’s do this…just pull off a tab!
