Congratulations go out to Cassie Schillero, member of the Garfield Heights High School graduating Class of 2014! Cassie is a member of the John Carroll University Cross Country team, which was recently honored by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association based on their work on the field and in the classroom. Cassie was one of five students who were individually recognized for a combination of academic and athletic achievement.
Of note on her cross country record, Cassie placed 23rd in the 6K at the Great Lakes Region Cross Country Championships, took 9th in the 6K at the OAC Championships, placed 6th in the Inter-Regional Rumble, won her first event of the year, the 5000-meter run, at the Muskie Duals, and finished 2nd in the 3000-meter steeple chase at the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Academically, Cassie, who is studying Exercise Science, is currently maintaining a 3.49 GPA. She was on the Dean's List for the Fall semester.
