Alumni Update: Charity Lockhart, Class of 1993

Charity Lockhart graduated from the Garfield Heights High School in the Class of 1993. After High School, Charity went on to attend Baldwin Wallace University and Wright State University. During her college years, she won the title of Miss Wright State University in 1997 and Miss Ohio First Runner-Up in 1998. After college, Charity participated in a gospel tour through Germany, Italy, and Switzerland in 1999. In 2009, she auditioned for Arizona Idol in the Sky (American Idol), the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, and The Voice. Charity began touring in Japan in 2010 and has had an extensive list of tour dates there since then.

Charity started the "Live to Love International Choir" in the United States in hopes to inspire young people and adults to learn to love life and above all live to love other people. Both kids and adults have the opportunity to join this choir nationwide and join Charity to travel to Japan on the Live to Love Tour. The workshops are for young musicians and singers to learn the back and frontstage of entertainment. They are taught to use their gifts to help others, not always to become famous. There is a performance at the end of the workshop to help fundraise for school and community projects.

Charity has also written two books:
Because I Said So: Written for young people about truth. Sometimes parents don't explain why they say to do the things they do. These are a few stories from Charity's journal that tell truths about mistakes parents make from relationships and careers, to money and religion.

In Her Shoes: This book is coming out in early 2018. These are stories from single moms to single moms to encourage each other on the journey. These are all stories Charity uses in her concerts to let people know that everyone has a powerful voice, you CAN survive and come through on top.

As if this weren't enough, Charity has several music CDs including: "Under the Mistletoe" (a Jazz Christmas album), "Whitney Houston Tribute," and "Stand Up," a gospel CD. One of her performances can be found by clicking here to see it on YouTube!

Congratulations to Charity on her success and for persevering throughout her struggles to reach her dreams and fulfill her goals!
