As part of an annual celebration recognizing Black History Month, Human Resources Director Chris Hanke represented the Garfield Heights City Schools as a speaker, along with a number of other dignitaries. Organized through the efforts of Ward 1 Councilman Michael Dudley, Mr. Hanke spoke about the contributions made by African Americans in our American culture and also reflected on personal experiences he has had as a long-time administrator, building principal and teacher in the district. Mr. Hanke was joined at the podium by other notable local dignitaries, including Mayor Vic Collova, Police Chief Byrne and State Representative Stephanie Howse. Approximately 100 people participated in what has become an annual event to honor and recognize African Americans in our society and the District thanks the organizers for allowing our schools to play a role.
