On Monday November 9, 2015 William Foster 5th grade teacher, Dan Bobeczko, successfully defended his dissertation at Cleveland State University. The dissertation examined kindergarten teacher perspectives of standardized testing and the influence they have had on the kindergarten classroom with regards to curriculum development, classroom instruction, and assessment. He has now earned a doctorate in Urban Education with a focus on Policy Studies. During his 21 years in education Bobeczko has taught kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade. In addition to earning a Masters in Elementary Administration, he also served as high school theatre director, was a member of the state board of the Ohio Educational Theatre Association, participated in the original creation of Ohio Fine Arts Standards in Drama/Theatre and model curriculum for grades K-6, and is currently working with the Ohio Department of Education and the American Institute for Research (AIR) as a member of the 5th Grade English Language Arts Content Advisory Committee contributing to the development of the new state tests in reading and writing.
