Maple Leaf Elementary School Inducts National Elementary Honor Society Students

At a ceremony held in the gymnasium of Maple Leaf Elementary School, 36 students in 4th and 5th grade were officially inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society. Led in part by Ms. Toya Owens-Hodge, the ceremony included an explanation of the four pillars of the National Honor Society, including service, leadership, scholarship and responsibility. A candle was lit by each of the advisors, who are Toya Owens-Hodge, Mark Zappola, Melissa Herman and Renae Bolton, after an explanation of each trait was delivered to the students. Then, each of the students raised their right hand and took their respective oath. The ceremony was concluded with the pinning of students, who each received a commemorative pin for the National Elementary Honor Society, their certificate of induction and a flower.

To be considered for the National Elementary Honor Society, students in 4
th or 5th grade must have earned a 3.0 Grade Point Average or higher. Congratulations to all of the inductees and their families!
