Garfield Heights Board of Education Welcomes Millette Tucker During Regular March Meeting

The Garfield Heights City Schools Board of Education formally appointed Millette Tucker to fill a vacancy created late last month, at its regular March meeting earlier in the week. Mrs. Tucker, who has lived in the Garfield Heights community since 2012, has spent more than 30 years in education and children and family services. She is excited to make a larger impact on the instructional needs of our children.

“The Garfield Heights City Schools provides outstanding offerings, and I look forward to being involved in the continued improvement of our education,” said Mrs. Tucker.

Her son, Demetrius, is a 2016 graduate of Garfield Heights High School and so too is her daughter, Olivia, who graduated in 2019. Mrs. Tucker spent 12 years working for the Centers for Families and Children in Northeast Ohio, helping to manage childcare, re-entry and father’s initiatives. From there, Mrs. Tucker worked for the Beaufort County School District in South Carolina, specializing in behavioral management, social work and taught in the alternative school . She also spent time as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Upon her return to Cleveland, she served as the founding assistant principal at Stepstone Academy Charter School, working directly with the Superintendent. She currently works at Cuyahoga Community College, as Program Manager of their Upward Bound program. Within the Garfield Heights City Schools, Mrs. Tucker was quite active, serving as Athletic Booster Club President and Vice President over the years. This foundation in education and children and family services prompted Mrs. Tucker’s pursuit of the Board vacancy.

On behalf of everyone in the Garfield Heights City Schools, welcome to Mrs. Millette Tucker, to the Board of Education.
