District Communications

Dear Garfield Heights City Schools Community,

The full support, strength and determination of our school family was on display this week, as it has been since the beginning of this unprecedented time in our society. Notwithstanding the ordered school closure period extension through May 1st, members of the Garfield Heights City Schools team continue to work hard, remain devoted to education and, above all, uplift our students’ collective academic and social/emotional success. It’s truly Bulldog Pride in its finest sense. Just consider:

=    •    Thousands of meals were planned, prepared and distributed this week to students and families in our District. I thank the spirit and compassion of our food services team, administrators, and volunteers who helped to make sure those who needed a meal received one. Please keep in mind what the District shared earlier, that our pickup time will remain 10 a.m. until 12 noon at two locations: Garfield Heights High School and Middle School, and will be every-other-day beginning Monday, April 6th except for April 10th, which is Good Friday and the 13th, which was a professional development day. See the website always for more information.

=    •    The Garfield Heights City Schools has developed a Comprehensive Kindergarten through Grade 3 Online Learning Program that will be rolled out during the week of April 6th. Administrators have identified valuable online learning resources to keep our District’s youngest students engaged in the learning process through the convenience of online instructional materials. In a sense, they will learn the way our Grades 4 through 12 have been, and will continue to, receive their schoolwork until the ordered school closure period ends.

=    •    High School Leadership is finalizing specific details for our senior class with the intent to graduate all students who would normally have done so. I thank Ms. Hager and her building team for working hard to consider the necessary requirements during this unprecedented time.

As always, you can use email as the best method of corresponding with anyone in the District. We encourage your continued communications! Teachers and families of the Garfield Heights City Schools continue to collaborate with creativity and compassion. While our top priority is to deliver the very best education possible, we are doing so with the health, safety and well-being of our entire school family in mind. Thank you for those who made the accomplishments of this past week successful, and for all that we will do together in the coming week.

GO BULLDOGS!
