Ohio Governor Extends School Closure Through Friday, May 1st

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine extended the school closure period through Friday, May 1st for all public, private and charter schools during his daily press conference on March 30th. He also made clear the intent of his administration to continue re-evaluating that date over the next 30 days as well. In light of the ordered school closure extension, the Garfield Heights City Schools is currently working on a longer-term instructional plan for students at all grade levels. Parents and students can continue to expect online instructional materials and resources to be posted on a regular basis. Naturally, the GHCS will continue communicating updates and important information as it becomes available. The status of important year-end activities, such as commencement, are currently under discussion. The District is doing everything possible to consider how best to conduct such important activities in a safe and appropriate environment. A special word of gratitude is extended to our food services team, who earlier this week, prepared approximately 600 breakfast and lunches for students in our District! Please know that more information will be forthcoming in the near future. This tremendous demonstration of hard work, commitment to education and Bulldog Pride is an outstanding reflection of how our school community can pull together and adapt during such unprecedented times. Thank you all, for your support. We will continue communicating with valuable information on a regular basis.
