Teachers are Welcomed Back with Spirited Morning Presentation

The teaching staff of the Garfield Heights City Schools was welcomed back to their first day of the 2018-2019 school year with the annual early morning breakfast in the High School cafeteria. From there, staff members congregated in the Center for Performing Arts to first hear from Assistant Superintendent Chris Hanke, who announced the names of two members of the staff, one certified and one classified, on being named staff recognition honorees this year. Those individuals were Julie Nichols from the High School cafeteria and Dana Ogorek, 1st grade teacher at Elmwood. Congratulations to both! As the highlight of the morning, the GHCS’ proud superintendent, Terry Olszewski, showcased accomplishments from each school building while donning their respective building’s T-shirts and expressing his gratitude to the staff. He then demonstrated his vocal talents, singing his own rendition of the Presidents of the United States of America tune, Mmm…mmm…mmm, complete with customized lyrics for our District, expressing his love and passion for public education. The entire staff then congregated in front of the High School main entrance to take a staff photo. In all, a wonderful morning of fun presentations and activities welcomed back teachers and staff to the 2018-2019 School Year.  Click here for pictures from the morning meeting!
