Senior Citizens Preview the GHHS Spring Theatre Performance

Senior Citizens Visit Garfield Heights High School for Preview of Spring Performance

Senior citizens from throughout the Garfield Heights and neighboring communities were formally invited to the Center for Performing Arts earlier this week to enjoy the talents and treasures of the High School Theatre Department’s performance of this year’s spring play: The Addams Family: A New Musical. Under the overall direction of Mr. Stephen Benjamin, students in middle school through grade 12 adorned the imaginative costume, makeup and stage designs of this sequel-of-sorts, to the popular 1960s family classic. More than 60 senior citizens from the City’s senior center, Jennings Hall, Marymount Place, the City of Maple Heights and Bedford enjoyed the vocal and acting skills of our students. During intermission, senior citizens enjoyed lunch, coffee and pastries provided by the High School cafeteria staff. At the conclusion of the preview performance, students met senior citizens in the lobby of the CPA to mingle and meaningfully engage one another. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of the Theater Department for delivering a fine preview performance, and thank you to the senior citizens who attended. The actual production opens to the general public on April 5th and runs April 6th, 12th, 26th, 27th at 7:00pm. Performances will also be held on April 14th and 28th at 3:00pm.
