At a Special Meeting of the Board of Education on Friday, June 28, 2019, the Board of Education officially accepted the resignation of Superintendent Terry Olszewski, who intends to retire after 7 years in this position, 22 years in various administrative capacities in the District and more than 35 years in public education. Mr. Olszewski will officially vacate the Superintendent’s Office, effective July 31, 2019, with a tremendous amount of accomplishments, including the development of a framework for the teaching and learning department to do the work necessary to instruct students in the 21st Century, the completion of the physical upgrades to many of your buildings and facilities in the District, the institution of the breakfast, lunch, salad bar and snack programs for our students, the enhancements to the safety/security personnel, systems and protocols to keep our students safe, the creation of community events that brought people together like the Family Fun Nights, Fathers Walk and All Pro Dads, the strengthening of the relationship with Jennings Hall and the Senior Center so that our students could have meaningful intergenerational interaction with our senior citizen population, and solidifying the brand of BEING a PROUD BULLDOG.  Before becoming Superintendent, Mr. Olszewski served the District as principal of Garfield Heights High School for 11 years and principal of Garfield Heights Middle School for 4 years.

“The Garfield Heights City Schools extends its deepest gratitude to Mr. Olszewski for his many years of service and leadership to this District,” said Board President Gary Wolske. “Mr. O made us all feel the power of Bulldog pride and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
