Crime Scene Investigation at the Middle School
After reading through student surveys, many of our students have expressed an interest in reading mysteries and in becoming a crime scene investigator, a police officer or perhaps even a detective. In the interest of trying to make learning more "hands on" and engaging, Mrs. Thomas set up videos of suspect interviews and laid out a potential crime scene for students to investigate. Don't worry though, it was a cartoon crime meant to enable students to draw inferences from videos, transcripts, notes and photos. Inferencing is a difficult concept for students to understand and it is our hope that they can see why "reading between the lines" is an important strategy to master in order to comprehend the whole story.
