Reading Buddies Make Connections
Once again this year, 5th graders in Dr. Bobeczko’s class were paired up with 1st grade reading buddies in Ms. D’Agostino’s class. They meet each Thursday morning for 30 minutes. During this time, students read to each other (5th graders select children’s books from Dr. Bobeczko’s collection and 1st graders read leveled books). Students are also working together to improve reading fluency and timed readings. On Fridays, Dr. Bobeczko’s class writes reflective journals about their experiences as “teachers” and discuss reading strategies they can use to help their buddies grow as readers. It has been a wonderful experience for all students involved! #GHBulldogReaders
