Safety Town Graduates Nearly 75 Participants

On Friday, July 7, 2017, nearly 75 Garfield Heights students officially graduated from Safety Town at Maple Leaf Elementary School. Before an audience of nearly 200 parents and other participants, Safety Town Coordinator Emily Garrett showcased each of the students and what they had learned over the last five weeks of programming. Lessons included fire safety, water safety, traffic safety and general play safety. Ms. Garrett, who also serves the district as an art teacher at the High School and works in the summer as a lifeguard at the City of Garfield Heights Recreation Center, created an interactive slide show of pictures from the summer program. The Safety Town program is the product of a partnership between the Garfield Height City Schools and the City of Garfield Heights. Special thanks goes out to the safety departments from the City, Momentum Church for their help with the program, and Nick Pillets, who helped as a Student Instructor for the program. Congratulations to all of the graduates of this year’s Safety Town!
