Second Fresh Food Initiative Continues Success, Distributes Tons of Produce, Literally

For the second straight month, the Fresh Food Initiative being sponsored by the Garfield Heights City Schools in partnership with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, helped to distribute nearly 5,000 pounds of fresh produce and other food earlier in the week. Taking place on the second Wednesday of each month during afterschool hours, the November event the 4,953 pounds of fresh food was supplemented with 150 coats donated by Operation Warm and samples of 3-Bean chili and recipes supplied by GHCS food and nutrition consultants, Pisanick Partners. In total 195 families were served with these donated items including 398 children and 92 senior citizens. Thank you to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and to everyone who participated to make this month’s event a success!
