First Ring Student Leadership Academy

The First Ring Leadership Academy focuses on building community awareness and leadership through youth participatory action research.  There are 16 high schools participating and students from each high school have selected an issue at their school and will conduct research on its causes and possible solutions with the help of an adult mentor who will be paricipating in the Academy and attending all or part of the student sessions.  Our Garfield Heights High School students have chosen Mental Health & Equity as their topic of research. The students will attend a total of four sessions held at area colleges and other locations and at the last session will present their findings and recommendations to the First Ring Superintendents.

Congratulations to Bezawit Atnafseged, Amir Dixon, Roosevelt Boone, Mariah Mitchell and Melody Warren for being chosen to be a part of the Academy!
