Garfield Heights City Schools Pushes Forward with Nutritious Farm-to-Fork Training
Farm to Fork

The Garfield Heights City Schools’ continued dedication to providing students with healthy meal options was on display, once again, with some recent specialized training for our nutrition staff. Led by Lauryn Palgut, MS, RN, LD, Sarah Carlson, MS, RDN, LD, Nicole Ryan, RDN, LD and interns from Pisanick Partners, the District’s food and nutrition partners, discussions took place with Dave Sokoll from Farm Fare along with hands-on food demonstrations with lettuce, apples and other “clean label” foods including coucous, cauliflower and chicken salads. Apart from providing students with farm-fresh options on a daily basis, Pisanick Parnters role with District nutrition staff is to impart knowledge, inspire leadership and train our foods team on culinary techniques to improve the menu. The GHCS will continue to report on such updates throughout the school year.
