Garfield Heights Middle School Hosts Kick-Off Event for
Fuel Up to Play 60 Program
Garfield Heights Middle School hosted an energetic and
informative lunchtime event to celebrate the launch of the Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60)
program on Thursday, December 06, 2018.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is a nationwide program launched by National Dairy
Council and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to help encourage children to
lead healthy lifestyles. Several special
guests were present at the event, including Cleveland Browns mascot Chomps, who
helped to serve delicious bistro boxes and deliver high-fives and fist bumps to
the delight of students. Jan Diamond,
School Wellness Manager for the American Dairy Association Mideast shared with
students how the FUTP60 program can empower them to make strong decisions,
specifically eating healthy, nutritious foods and engaging in sixty-minutes of
physical activity every day. Representatives
from Pisanick Partners, the District’s food and
nutrition advisors were on-hand to help students sign-up to become members of
the FUTP60 School Wellness Team. Over
eighty students joined the Wellness Team which will provide them the
opportunity to organize FUTP60 activities and promote healthy food options in
their school! To celebrate the
excitement of the kick-off event, students and staff took selfies with Chomps
which will become part of a mural located at the building. The GHCS would like to thank the Cleveland
Browns, American Dairy Association Mideast and Pisanick Partners for their
participation and promoting healthy changes in our school and community!
