Garfield Heights City Schools Hosts First Cultural Dinner and Celebration

On behalf of everyone in the Garfield Heights City Schools, thank you to the numerous members from the community who participated in the District’s first-ever Cultural Dinner and Celebration on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Beginning first with a culturally-themed complementary dinner provided by Jamaica's Drumpon Jerk located here in Garfield Heights, and then proceeding to the Center for Performing Arts, the community’s diversity was enthusiastically showcased for all. Student artwork was on display throughout Garfield Heights High School, and performers inspired the audience. Also part of the evening’s activities was an interactive guest panel, which included Ms. Meryl Johnson, from the Ohio State Board of Education, Dr. Justin Havemann, Head of Psychiatry of Marymount Hospital and Mrs. Tiwanna Scott- Williams, BSN, RN and owner of Pearl Flower Catering. The Cultural Dinner and Celebration was a signature event of the District’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Week which is taking place all week long, February 10^th through February 13^th to demonstrate the care, compassion and celebration the Garfield Heights City Schools has for the entire community.
