Garfield Heights Board of Education

The Garfield Heights City School District is governed by an elected board of five members. The Board is made up of community members elected by our citizens to give guidance and direction to our local school system. Board of Education members are elected to four-year terms. A president and vice president are elected annually at the Organizational Meeting held every January. The Board of Education meets regularly at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Special meetings may be called when appropriate. When special meetings are called, reasonable notice is given to all board members and the local media. All Board of Education meetings are open to the public. Meetings are held in the Board Room at the Board of Education Office located at 5640 Briarcliff Drive in Garfield Heights.

Our district's mission statement is:

"The Garfield Heights Learning Community demonstrates basic values that meet the needs of the heart with clear academic goals applying to all children in appropriate facilities and where all community members work together."

We strive to live up to our mission statement, with our focus on three specific priorities:

  1. Needs of the Heart
  2. Appropriate Facilities
  3. Academic Goals
