Stadium Club is a dedicated group of individuals that are committed to raising
awareness of the current state of the district’s outdoor athletic complex and
transportation facility with the ultimate goal of its complete renovation.
There have been no substantive renovations to the track or field
in the past 60 years! As a result, the district is forced to spend thousands of
dollars per year in maintenance costs. Due to the age and poor condition of the
track, the district has not hosted any home track and field competitions for over fifteen years.
In addition, an entire section of the bleachers was recently removed after it was deemed to be unsafe due to the deterioration of three of the main supports. The current district transportation facility was built in 1937. It has severely limited space for maintenance and storage, and features unsafe working conditions caused by water leakage from a deteriorating roof and external walls.
The Stadium Club seeks the complete renovation of the outdoor athletic complex and bus garage, which would include the following:
- Synthetically turfed playing surface
- Rubberized track
- New bleachers
- Outdoor restroom facilities and locker rooms
- Relocation of the district bus garage providing improved transportation services for students
The new outdoor athletic complex would be used by High School and Middle School athletics, PE classes, marching band and community youth sports leagues. It would also be open and accessible to the entire community. Stay tuned for future updates on how you can support the Stadium Club's efforts to achieve this vision!
