High School Artists Spread Holiday Cheer with Mini-Murals for Winter Wonderland
Garfield Heights: – Talented student artists from Ms. Gilliland's Mural Painting class brought holiday magic to life by creating eight vibrant "mini-murals" for the high school’s Winter Wonderland event, held on Friday, December 13.
The murals, brimming with festive spirit, showcased snowmen, Christmas trees, and joyful scenes of children enjoying classic winter activities like sledding, caroling, and snowball fights. The collaboration gave students an opportunity to not only showcase their artistic skills but also spread holiday cheer throughout the community.
“This project really allowed us to work together and use our imaginations,” said one of the students in the class. “It was so much fun bringing these ideas to life for everyone to enjoy.”
The effort extended beyond the Mural Painting class, with students from Mrs. Mayausky's Drawing and Painting, Advanced Placement Art, and contributions from Ms. Gilliland's Intro to Art and Sculpture classes also joining in. Together, the young artists created a visual celebration that delighted attendees and turned the event into a true Winter Wonderland.
“The students were excited about the project,” said Ms. Gilliland. “It was amazing to see their creativity and teamwork come together in such a meaningful way.”
The murals, which adorned the halls and event spaces during the Winter Wonderland night, will remain on display throughout the holiday season, serving as a reminder of the incredible talent and teamwork of the high school’s art program.
The event not only showcased artistic talent but also highlighted the power of art to bring people together and spread joy—a true testament to the spirit of the holidays.
