Important Dismissal Procedural Change...

Hello Middle School Families,

We wanted to let you know that we are adjusting our dismissal procedures at the end of the day. We are making the changes because we believe by changing the process, we will increase the safety of our Middle School students as well as our students that attend Maple Leaf. We also believe that it will help alleviate some of the daily issues with dismissal allowing for a smoother dismissal for our families as well.

All bus riders will be dismissed first. These students will go to their lockers and head out of door A and get on the busses. We will get the busses on the road immediately. This will allow for our cars to be able to exit left or right depending on their spot in the line.

The students that are picked up(car riders) will be dismissed next. They will go to their locker and come directly out door B. If their ride is here, they will go to their ride. Otherwise, they will line up along the guardrail in the front of the building so that we can keep them safe, distanced and help them locate their ride when needed.

The final group is those walking or picking up a sibling at Maple Leaf. The ones picking up siblings at Maple Leaf will go to a designated location in the Middle School to wait until Maple Leaf dismissal begins. These students will be walked over to Maple Leaf so they can pick up their siblings in a safe manner. They will be walked over so they are on time for Kindergarten siblings. The walkers that go directly home will leave the school and go directly home. They are not to wait at Maple Leaf for any reason. We should have no Middle School students standing at Maple Leaf at any time that do not have siblings in attendance. Maple Leaf should be clear at all times unless they are with a Middle School staff member. The only Middle School students allowed at Maple Leaf will be the ones with siblings and that is being supervised by Middle School Staff members that bring them over to Maple Leaf. We will have staff members at Maple Leaf ensuring that Middle School students are not on Maple Leaf property.

Please talk to your child about their role in helping our school and community stay safe by following the proper procedures during dismissal. Like anything, this will take some practice and we will communicate any adjustments as necessary. Once again, we believe making these changes will allow for a safer and smoother dismissal for all.

Families, thank you for doing your part in helping keep our students safe during dismissal. We have said it numerous times, but it takes all of us working TOGETHER, to help our children achieve their highest potential!
