Summer Camp was a hit!

During the months of June and July, elementary students in our district had a great time participating in the 1st ever district-wide summer camp program. Summer camp enrollment was open to all students enrolled in the district's summer school program. The camp convened daily from 12 to 3:30 pm at Elmwood Elementary serving over 200 elementary students.
The YDH I.D.E.A. Summer Camp was a Montessori-inspired program, which utilized the outdoor green space for campers to engage in activities such as urban gardening, soccer, and West-African drumming. The students were able to participate in on-site field trips which included martial arts self-defense, mobile gaming, and other special activities which included students being engulfed in large bubbles, exotic animals, and circus shows. The camp culminated with an onsite mobile skating rink and DJ provided by Rink-In-A-Box which provided many of our students the opportunity to experience roller skating for the very first time!
