Congratulations to Imani Inkton, Dashaun Johnson, Ian Case, and Elizabeth Davis for earning 2nd place in
the data science competition at 2025 Datapalooza on March 14 th . The students were given two data sets
to choose from and selected one that explored the association between multiple factors and final exam
scores in a college class. Their task was to analyze the data, extract key insights, and present their
findings, where they were judged by industry professionals. After qualifying for the final round, the team
finished 2 nd with a strong presentation that showcased their analytical and presentation skills. The team
is coached by Mr. Lehmann, a computer education teacher at the high school.
The day began with two outstanding keynote speakers. The first was Rachelle Yarbrough, Senior
Business Data Analyst at Nestlé, who spoke about her personal career progression in data science. The
second speaker was Jarell Brown, Director of Analytics and Business Intelligence at the Henry Ford. Mr.
Brown shared his journey from serving in the military to his current position at the Henry Ford in Detroit,
Michigan.
The students also attended sessions by the Cleveland Guardians, the City of Cleveland’s Open Data
team, and Progressive Insurance. Each organization showcased how they leverage data science in their
operations. Representatives also shared their paths into data science, and their respective roles in using
data to help their organization’s missions.
The event was organized by MosaicTechMovement, a non-profit Cleveland area organization dedicated
to enhancing opportunities in STEM for marginalized students. A shout out also goes to Progressive
Insurance, which was kind enough to host the event at their Mayfield facility.
