Garfield Heights City Schools Celebrates Fathers and Father Figures
Garfield Heights City Schools Celebrates Fathers and Father Figures
Fathers and father figures throughout the Garfield Heights City Schools community walked their children to school as part of the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood’s 17th Annual Fathers Walk. Fathers, grandfathers, and other father figures escorted their children to school throughout the district, and at each building, were welcomed with a variety of expressions of gratitude and goodwill. Garfield Heights school buildings posted banners with the Fathers Walk Pledge, a series of proclamation statements about helping their children with school and school-associated tasks and requirements, inspiring parents/guardians to help their children "Stay in the Game" with good attendance, and encouraging participants to sign them. Balloons, food trucks, signs, stickers, and pledge cards were all distributed as a method to welcome, express gratitude, and continue encouraging fathers and father mentors to remain actively engaged in their respective students’ lives. Thank you to all of the fathers and male mentors who participated in walking or driving their children to school on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022.
