October is National Farm to School Month
Did you know October is National Farm to School Month? Our food service department tries to celebrate local whenever possible, by using locally grown produce and even cookies & breakfast bars made with local flour!
This year, we're ramping up our efforts! Garfield Heights City Schools was selected as a recipient of the Feed Our Future Local Menu Takeover grant. Not only will we be featuring local food items each week, but we'll also be having a T-shirt giveaway!
Here's how it works:
  1. Every week we'll let you know what the featured food item is (it'll also be marked in your food bag with a "Local Menu Takeover" Sticker.
  2. Take a picture of your student enjoying the food and send it in.
  3. If you send in a picture each week, you'll be entered in the drawing to win a FREE T-Shirt!
Stay tuned for our FIRST local menu item NEXT WEEK. Be sure to complete the meals order form if you haven't already and share this great news with a GHCS District family!
