Garfield Heights Kiwanis Donates Dictionaries to Garfield Heights Middle School 6th Graders

To appropriately align with the start of the new school year, the Garfield Heights Kiwanis recently made a generous donation of approximately 12 cases of dictionaries to Garfield Heights Middle School sixth-grade students. Thanks to the generosity of the Kiwanis and individuals such as Debra Sarnowski, who have graciously donated many educational items over the years, students in our middle school language arts program will have this supplemental resource at their disposal. In total, approximately 240 dictionaries were donated with an estimated value of $900 and are the latest act of kindness bestowed upon the Garfield Heights City Schools, which the Kiwanis make a priority at least once each school year. In addition to a donation of sizeable value, the Kiwanis maintains an active and ongoing presence in the GHCS throughout the school year. Other acts of charity include reading to classes and their support in developing a student leadership organization at each building in the district. The donation of dictionaries to our 6th-grade students is part of a larger international program on behalf of the Kiwanis as well. The Middle School students will be certain to put these dictionaries to good use in their emerging English/Language Arts academic opportunities. On behalf of everyone in the Garfield Heights City Schools, thank you to the Garfield Heights Kiwanis, including Debra Sarnowski and her faithful and devoted group membership, for this generous donation.
