Garfield Heights High School Vocalists Entertain Garfield Heights
Senior Citizens
In what has become one of the most highly anticipated interactions between the Garfield Heights City Schools and the City of Garfield Heights’ Senior Center organization, vocalists from the High School under the overall direction of Mr. Steve Pernod entertained community golden agers for the holidays. With three acts in total, the Freshman Choir, Varsity Choir and members from the Music Express team, a blend of traditional holiday carols were combined with contemporary numbers for a near hour-long performance. The newly created Freshman Choir consisted of approximately 30 ninth grade students and opened the morning’s vocal festivities. Members from the Music Express Team sang two songs for the roomful of approximately 60 senior citizens. The Varsity Choir shared a spirited medley of melodies for the senior citizens, including Joy to the World and
closing with Go, Tell It on the Mountain. Superintendent Chris Hanke
shared a few brief words of introduction and thanked the students, Mr. Pernod
and the senior citizens for allowing the performers to share their talents.
Special thank you to Garfield Heights Mayor Vic Collova for attending the
performance as well and greeting the students and senior citizens.
