Maple Leaf Elementary Students at Lemonade Wars

Last month, students at Maple Leaf Elementary participated in One Book, One School and read The Lemonade Wars. But they didn't just read the book—they brought it to life.

Through engaging, interdisciplinary lessons and project-based learning, students explored themes from the book in real-world ways. Some classes created their own lemonade businesses, complete with sales and marketing departments. They sold lemonade to their peers and made an important decision—to donate the proceeds to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Students from Miss Jones' class had the opportunity to visit the Food Bank to hand-deliver the donation of $471.05. During their visit, they learned about produce distribution and explored careers in philanthropy.

This experience not only reinforced academic concepts but also encouraged compassion, teamwork, and community involvement. We are proud of our students for their creativity and generosity.
