Elmwood Elementary School was home to a robust month of celebrating Black History Month during February 2026, and the Garfield Heights City Schools would like to applaud students and staff for making this special time one of culture and commemoration. A variety of activities and learning took place, including singing, dancing, playing drums, and demonstrating art related to the history of Black culture. The Black History Program was the culminating event on February 25th, and which saw more than one hundred 2nd and 3rd graders share their experience, show their presentation skills, collaborate with confidence, and connecting classroom instruction to real-world performance and public speaking opportunities. Great job, students and staff at Elmwood Elementary School. Special shout-out to Breanna Williams and Tia Smith for their leadership and oversight of our students throughout last month’s Black History Month.
