FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS FLYER/PHOTO

February was a month filled with celebration, learning, and community across Garfield Heights City Schools. Each of our schools celebrated Black History Month in meaningful and unique ways, highlighting student voice, creativity, and a strong sense of pride in learning.

Elmwood Elementary had an incredible turnout of families who came to the school to support their children during their Black History Month presentations. It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members present, celebrating and encouraging our students as they shared their hard work and presentations.

Maple Leaf Elementary created a very creative “podcast-style” presentation for Black History Month, which allowed families to live stream and watch the presentations. This was a great way to bring families into the learning experience and made the event both engaging and innovative.

At the High School, students participated in an assembly featuring a video presentation centered around what 100 years of Black history means to them. The video was powerful, thoughtful, and a great reflection of student voice and perspective.

Great job, Garfield Heights! Our students and staff did a wonderful job making Black History Month meaningful across the district.

In addition to our school celebrations, we also held our Annual District Mojuba Celebration, which featured a Motown theme this year. The event was a huge success, with nearly 700 people in attendance. It was truly a night filled with culture, music, dance, and community, and we thank everyone who helped make this event so special.

In other news, Elmwood Elementary, Maple Leaf Elementary, and the Middle School all held Spelling Bees this month. These events showed the amazing strides our students are making in literacy and their continued commitment to learning and academic excellence.

We are so proud of our students, staff, and families for making February such a memorable and meaningful month across Garfield Heights City Schools.
