Garfield Heights High School was alive with activity of a special nature on the morning of Thursday, April 30th as the building hosted a first of its kind, with “Bring Your Parents to School Day.” Held during the morning hours, students invited mothers, fathers, or other significant relatives to shadow them during their morning session. Breakfast was served, followed by a brief introduction from Principal Samuel Vawters. Parents then traveled with their child through 3rd and 4th periods to observe. An important theme of enthusiasm plus energy plus expectations equals excellence was apparent during the entire morning. Parents truly enjoyed watching firsthand the academic and social encounters in which their children engage. Hosting this “Bring Your Parents to School Day" is a continued effort to involve students’ homelife in their schoolwork, shattering obstacles to learning, and raising the bar, in order to show the Garfield Heights community just who we are. Thanks for everyone who played a role in making this valuable educational opportunity possible, and to Dunkin Donuts for their generosity.
