Garfield Heights City Schools proudly attended this year’s Annual Miles of Smiles event at Nordonia High School, where our SPED students had the opportunity to participate in an exciting Olympic-style day of recreation and fun!
“Miles for Smiles” is an inclusive event designed to foster acceptance, celebrate abilities, and promote physical activity for Special Education students and their community. Students enjoyed relay races, badminton, bean bag toss activities, face painting, giant bubbles, and many other interactive games throughout the day. Activities also included sensory-friendly experiences, medal ceremonies, and special photo opportunities that helped make every participant feel celebrated and valued.
Garfield Heights was also honored to help lead the opening ceremony around the track, making the experience even more special for our students. In addition, Garfield Heights created a raffle basket for the event that quickly became a crowd favorite among attendees!
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for students to play freely, build connections, and enjoy time with peers in a welcoming and supportive environment.
A special shout-out goes to all of our SPED teachers and staff members whose support and dedication helped make this memorable day possible. We are already looking forward to attending again next year!
