Fitness and fun were on display earlier this week with a morning of physical competition and excitement as the Elmwood Run Club hosted its first ever track and field event on the new athletic surface at the high school. The Run Club was started at the elementary building as a way to promote physical activity, teamwork, and constructive use of students’ time. Its popularity and wide participation including approximately forty 2nd and 3rd graders, were used as a catalyst for this event, which included actual relays such as the 4 x 800 meters, the 4 x 400 meters and more. Parents were invited to attend the morning event on Tuesday, May 12th and who stopped by to take pictures. Special shout-out to the high school track-and-field athletes who helped organize the events and call out participants for each. Thank you to Shauntia Smith who started the club with support from Kyle Renick, Candance Muetzel, and Breanna Williams. Great job to all!
