The Garfield Heights City Schools community extends our heartfelt sympathy to the family and close friends of Mrs. Candice Booher, one of our beloved Bulldog teachers for more than 25 years, who recently and unexpectedly passed away. Mrs. Booher began her career in the Garfield Heights City Schools in August 2001 as a teacher at Maple Leaf, instructing grades K through 5. Over the years, Mrs. Booher fulfilled many roles as she served our students, including teacher, mentor, team leader, and other numerous leadership roles in the district. Most recently, she spent time at Elmwood Elementary School and joined the William Foster staff in 2025. Mrs. Booher was also a devoted wife, and mother to three sons. As a meaningful way to share a tribute to Mrs. Booher, the Garfield Heights City Schools is asking the employees and community to send any special and memorable pictures, or a written message tribute to photosghbulldogs@gmail.com Voice messages can be recorded on your phone and emailed along with photos. A selection of these memories will be featured in a tribute video during the opening of the District Convocation on Thursday, August 13, at 8:00 a.m. at the Garfield Heights High School Performing Arts Center. While only a selection may be included in the video, every photo and message received will be shared with Candice's family. Please submit all photos and voice messages by Sunday, August 9. The district's intention is to honor Mrs. Booher, and to help heal, as everyone in her family, and the extended Bulldog family, mourns this sudden loss. A compilation of these pictures and messages will help to extend our sympathy to her family, as well as collectively grieve, during this most difficult time.
