The Garfield Heights City Schools welcomed new staff to the district on Monday, August 10th with a day full of activity, orientation, and getting to know the Bulldog family. Kicked off with a light breakfast and introductions by Human Resources Director Tasha Pettigrew, approximately 30 new staff members joined a morning session which included activities that allowed new staff and teachers to get to know one another. Interim Superintendent Samuel J. Vawters and Board President Thandeka Cox, M.Ed., joined in the morning activities, and welcomed all of the new members of the Garfield Heights City Schools staff. Excitement and enthusiasm characterized this outstanding day’s activities, which sets the course for an important week of preparation for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Welcome all new staff members and teachers to the Bulldog family!
